Environmental Science

During this course, students will explore a range of fields of study that focus on the environment, tackling questions related to how land, sea, and other natural resources are used. Students will develop their knowledge of environmental science through lectures, field trips, and experimental design. Working through the scientific method, students will acquire the tools to begin to explore and understand the environment on both a local and global scale.

Session 1 will explore how human impacts on the environment effect both the land and the ocean and the fundamental processes that occur in the ocean. The class will discuss global warming and ocean acidification and how humans are contributing and what technologies are being used to attempt to mitigate these effects. Session Two will introduce a range of fields of study that focus on the environment, which may include topics such as energy resource engineering, climate change, green technologies, marine biology, and other related fields.
