International Students
All international students (non-U.S. citizens or non-U.S.
permanent residents) are required to have a valid F-1 Student Visa to enter
the United States to study at Stanford during the summer quarter. You will be
required to submit additional materials before an I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility
for an F-1 Student Visa) can be prepared for you. Materials include a declaration
of finance, proof of funding document, and a current passport copy. International
auditors will not be issued a Certificate of Eligibility for an F-1 Student
Visa. All international students obtaining a Certificate of Eligibility
for an F-1 Student Visa from Stanford are required to enroll in a minimum of
eight units.
Students should not enter on a tourist visa (B-1/B-2) or a WT visa waiver just prior to starting school if the intent is to go to school. Immigration law prohibits students from attending school on a tourist visa.
If you are an international student currently attending a U.S. institution that you will be returning to in the fall, you may not require a Stanford sponsored I-20. Please contact the Summer Session office for additional information.
Complete the Undergraduate & Graduate Summer Programs application
online. International students must pay a $100 application fee. Applicants are
strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible
to avoid delays in processing your Certificate of Eligibility for the F-1 Student
Visa. We strongly encourage international students to contact the U.S. embassy
or consulate in their country to learn more about obtaining an F-1 Student Visa.
